LAPUA 7.62x39 M43 blanks: boxer or berdan?

Post by KneverKnew »

Does anyone know if the 7.62x39mm Russian M43 green, wooden bullet blanks produced by LAPUA use boxer or berdan primers?

Just wondering for reloading. Would be great brass.

To my knowledge the blanks are berdan primed. However, I never owned any of that stuff.

The problem with turning these blanks into live rounds is that pulling the heavily crimped wooden "bullets" is a pain. Then, you have to resize the case to open up the case mouth to accept a normal projectile. I found the case mouths to be uneven and needed a slight trimming to make them uniform.
When all is said and done, you have a nice, brass cased cartridge, but it is berdan primed and not easily reloaded once you fire it. If this were boxer primed brass, it would be a worthwhile project.
To old to fight and to old to run, a Jar head will just shoot and be done with you.

Well I didn’t end up with the blanks but did purchase several hundred PRVI 7.62x39 M63 rounds to shoot and reload.
Anybody know a good source of .311 124gr AK bullets?
