Range baffles for muzzle brake shooting?

Post by Kurt »

Has anyone heard of anything like this? I was thinking of buying a muzzle brake for a rifle I own but I hate to be the one blasting everyone with redirected noise. I wonder if making a U- shaped barrier lined with mattress foam would help much? Thanks.

I'd like to but, as I said I don't want to be one of those angering other shooters if it doesn't work. Also, the 60-year-old memory of my dad trying to muffle the blast from his Lee No.5 with a bushel basket, shooting out the under the house garage door as my mother did laundry in the next room haunts me still. :)

I'd be concerned with combustibility of the foam?
I've heard of "Non-Ballistic Suppression" with a double wall of ply with carpet attached to the inner side being quite effective. Think square cone that bolts together at the range, but folds flat to transport.

I shoot guns that have muzzle brakes on them, SLR 106ur, AK 74, PPS-43,.........shooters are wearing ear plugs or muffs on the range anyways, so it doesn't bother me that I shoot my guns with muzzle brakes. if they have issues with extremely loud noise, then they shouldn't be on a range in the first place
COOL IT WITH THE BOOM-BOOMS!! OVA-DAY!!
