On the rear sight you can find sS, serial number and 17 (year of production)?

Thank You. A very interesting Type. There seems to be no consistency in the rebuilds, markings removed or added in this M98 version. I have never seen one in person> delighted too see the photo documentation

completely affirmative. I have seen many of these M98 Yugo rework long rifles with all sort of markings, diferent bolt types with right and curved bolt handles, old and new wood/stocks and diferent combinations of Yugo and old german markings. On thing is common- new SN on the stock.

One more question is that a Yugo coin in the stock where a stock disc went? I see no screw head??? Also it seems in the wrong spot. Too far to the rear? see

Back in the day when Yugo mausers came into the US, I was after K98k conversions, I never saw a Gew 98 conversion. They had M48s , M48As, and M24-47s at $75. The K98ks were much more, like $170-200.This was around 2010???
I see many old posts( 66 pages of old posts have vanished) maybe its time to repost some of my K98k Yugo rifles?

I have never seen any stock discs on any yugoslav rifles.
It is just a white round sticker with a faded number. It was in use on a marking rifle owned by the shooting club. I left it the way I got it when I bought the rifle. I bought this rifle because of a gun sale owned by a shooting club that was shut down. There were many different yugo mausers. In addition to the various M48s, M24s and Kar98K, there were three other long rifles of this Mauser type, with only yugo stocks and turned down bolt handles.
